Research Assistant (Predoctoral)

The successful candidate will join the BiFeS project led by Philippe Bontems and Catarina Goulão. The project combines public economics, behavioral economics, industrial organization and food economics to study optimal food taxation using theoretical modelling, household purchase data (Kantar Worldpanel), and surveys.

The Research Assistant will prepare, clean and manage Kantar Worldpanel data; construct links between products, food categories and nutritional attributes; contribute to empirical analyses and policy simulations; assist with literature reviews, data documentation, coding, and the preparation of scientific outputs. A key responsibility will be supporting the implementation of the project's household survey, including liaising with external survey companies, coordinating survey fieldwork, monitoring timelines and deliverables, ensuring data quality, and integrating the survey data with existing datasets. The Research Assistant will work closely with the project investigators and international collaborators in an interdisciplinary research environment.
